Beta terms of use

The short version

• Kaikumi is an invitation-only beta. Things will change, break and sometimes be lost.
• You keep what you make. You choose who sees it and under which licence it is shared.
• Nothing here checks that a part fits, is strong enough or is safe. Printing, fitting and using a part is your own decision and at your own risk.
• AI-made parts are drafts. You must print, fit and test them before you can share them.
• Be honest about rights, tests and photos, and respect other people's work.

1. What this is

Kaikumi is run by Justin Szilard ("we"). During the closed beta only people we invite can use it. We are still building it: features change, pages break, and we may pause or end the beta. We will try to tell you before we make a change that affects your work.

2. Your account

You must be at least 18, and you need an invitation from us. One account per person. Keep your sign-in to yourself; you are responsible for what is done with your account. We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken, or when the beta ends.

3. Your work

• You keep ownership of the designs, files, descriptions and photos you add.
• You let us host it. You give us permission to store, copy, process and show your work as needed to run the service, and only to the people you choose: yourself while it is private, a design's owners when you send a suggestion, members of a design you invite, and everyone who can see the site when you publish.
• Publishing is a licence to others. When you publish, you choose a licence (CC0 or CC BY 4.0) and others may use the published files under it. Withdrawing a publication stops future downloads here; it cannot recall copies already downloaded.
• Suggestions. When you send a suggestion, the design's owners may make it the current version of their design. It keeps the licence and credit it was saved with.
• You declare rights truthfully. Only upload what you made or have permission to share, and say so accurately when asked.

4. Other people's work

Respect the licence and credit of anything you build on. A change to someone else's published design keeps their licence and credits them as the original designer. Vehicle and brand names identify vehicles only; Kaikumi is not affiliated with any manufacturer.

5. Safety: no fit or safety checks

Designs, previews, measurements, AI drafts and test reports here are contributors' work and declarations. Nothing on Kaikumi checks that a part fits, prints well, is strong enough, or is safe or legal to use.

Printing, fitting and using any part is your own decision and at your own risk. Follow the law and your vehicle maker's guidance.

6. Create with AI and Improve with AI

• An AI model writes a program from your description, and an isolated sandbox builds the part. Results can be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable. Check everything.
• Your descriptions and the generated programs are sent to the AI provider you choose. The privacy notice says who and for how long. Don't include personal or confidential information.
• We claim no ownership of what the AI makes for you. It may resemble existing designs, and you are responsible for what you choose to save and share.
• Print, test, then share. An AI-made version can only be published or sent as a suggestion once you have printed it, fitted it and recorded a test with photos of the part installed. Only record a test you actually did.
• During the beta AI use is free within daily limits. We may change the limits or pause the features at any time.

7. Photos and test reports

Only add photos you took or may share. Make sure they show no faces, number plates or identifying places. We remove location and camera details from published photos and test photos. Test photos are shown with the version: to a design's owners with a suggestion, and to everyone once published.

8. Things you must not do

• Upload anything you have no right to share, or anything unlawful, harmful or misleading.
• Send automated, bulk or spam contributions, suggestions or AI requests, or fake tests or photos.
• Try to get around access limits, spending limits, the AI sandbox or other safeguards, or access other people's private work.
• Harass other people, or post their personal information.

9. Removal and takedown

We may remove content or suspend access that breaks these terms or the law. If you think something here infringes your rights, write to justin@madebylakeshore.com with what it is, where it is and why. You can withdraw your own publications, retract your reports and remove garage entries yourself.

10. Data loss during the beta

We keep daily backups. If we ever restore one, changes made since that backup are lost, and everyone signs in again. Removals you made are kept removed. Keep your own copies of anything important.

11. No warranty; limits of liability

The beta is provided as it is, without promises that it will be available, correct or fit for any purpose. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any part you print, fit or use, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us for the beta (nothing). Some laws don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

12. Changes

If we change these terms we will publish a new version here and ask you to accept it before you continue.
